19 Jun 2017U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground (YPG) is located near the Arizona-California border, adjacent to the Colorado River, approximately 24 miles north of the city of Yuma (pop 87,000), Arizona. Situated in the southwest portion of the state, the proving ground is in the heart of the great Sonoran desert. YPG is a major test and evaluation installation of the United States Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) and is included in the Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB). YPG has test sites located in Arizona, Alaska, Hawaii, Republic of Panama, and other locations.
